Home in the Country

Chloe: Ahhhh.. the country side of life is sooo beautiful this time of the year!
and I love coming "home" to our side of the mountain!
Our little place in the country is here on the side of Sand Mountain ..
My personal favorite place has always been
right out front by "my" azalea bush shaded by a couple of BIG Old oak trees...

What Princess would not love to keep an eye over her realm

while feeling the spring breeze not only blow her gracious ruff

but, bring the sweet smell of the country side right to her?

...Ahhh , it's a dream come true!...

And then there is Thibby,

Yes, oh yes there is Thibby!

He will make a fine grown Dog some day ..

because he is a fine young PUP still..

he get's so excited..

just like the other day as we road down the road

I think he may have had his "first" cow sighting!!!

(He was to young and short on our previous visits to see out the window)..

The porch here is nice and wide..

just right for me to lay at the top of the steps

and keep an eye on this side of the house

and Thibodeaux..

the other day I showed him another "good" spot

to lie in...

in front of the porch but under one of the

big old hydrangea bushes...

When I was a puppy I loved those round "snowball" flowers!

I would somehow break one off and roll it around..

very gently at first

playing with it like a "pretty ball"...

then it would always get the better of me...

and I would have to grab it and give it a GOOD shake..

after that it didn't look much like a ball

anymore...

so I would "have" to attack the bush again.

Thibodeaux: Oh, I am having so much fun!!!

I get to go out early in the mornings

and run and run and run!

When it's time to come in at night

I can barely hold my head up ,

I have had such a big day and

I am sooo tired!

I have seen some animals that Momma

calls cows..some of them have

big HORNS..

I think it would be so much fun to get in their "yard"!

Oh, and these other animals..

their legs are longer than the cows..

they come walking up "our" road

right by our fence!!!!

I have to run out to the corner and warn them

" Watch out!! Shake REAL hard..."

they just don't seem to listen!

but, I will keep trying

to help them..

I just know

they don't seem to realize there

is a person on their backs!

This morning early,

before Daddy had to return to our other house,

We played a "new" game..

They called it something like...

pick up sticks and drag limbs to a pile...

I called it

Thibby wants "that" stick!

I'd wait for Momma to have her hands full of sticks

then I would decide which one I wanted,

running up I would catch it in my mouth

then I would

pull..and pull!

I think Momma really liked this game!

She would just "chatter" and try not to drop all her sticks!

Then she would pick up more sticks..

ready to play again.

After that game

Momma and Daddy "cleaned"off our porch.

Momma took a long stick with bristles

(she calls it a broom)

and brushed and brushed that porch!

(I felt sorry for her..

she couldn't tell that

the porch had

NO pretty hair like me and Chloe!!)

I helped this afternoon,

while she was inside,

I found an old green plastic flower pot

It was full of potting soil!

I knew this would make Momma happy!

I spread it all over the porch!

Yep, she was real happy!

She got to play her broom game again!

***

We hope you have a nice shady azalea or hydrangea
bush to lie under on a warm spring afternoon,
a favorite tennis ball and
a Momma that likes to pet her puppies
and get a great big puppy kiss
now and then!

  1. chloe, i am so glad that you are getting to visit some of your favorite spots! it is really very nice of you to share the hydrangea bush with thibodeaux too!

thibs, i just know that momma was happy that you helped her play her stick and broom games today. she told me all about it earlier. it was thoughtful of you to set up the broom court for her to have another go round!

i don't know if chloe has told you, but there are more animals that may or may not come to visit. keep your eyes open for the neighborly pig, a stray turtle, and a really bright non-flying flyer with a really big 'ol tail. momma will call that a peacock. you never know, some new folks may be there now too!

  2. Oh, Carrie..sometimes I just have to shake my head and roll my eyes at this boy!! Last night he ran around in the wet yard and got his belly all muddy..when Momma let him in..she couldn't catch him with his towel before he made a bee-line for her bed! Needless to say..she was not at all to thrilled..I just layed my head down and pretended to be asleep..
what else is a girl to do? Love and cold nose prints! Chloe

BUT, CARRIE!!! You said I couldn't get on the bed 'cause of Miss Bo-Bo..and she's in SC...So why would Chloe roll her eyes and "blow" at me? Big wet kisses, Thibby

  3. Well, Thibodeaux, Chloe probably picked up the eye-rolling and blowing from Daddy.

Don't feel too badly about Momma not letting you in bed with a muddy tummy and feet. When I was little she used to make me wash my feet before bed. I think that's why I can't get to sleep now if my feet and legs don't feel clean. Hmph.

I know that Miss Bo-bo is at your other house in SC, and that makes you think that you should be allowed in the bed. I'm sorry this is not the case. See, Momma doesn't want you to get used to the bed and get to really like it, only to have to take it away from you when y'all go back to Miss Bo-bo's realm. She's not being mean. She just knows that you can't miss what you don't know.

I hope that the both of y'all have gotten to enjoy being around Momma on Mother's Day!

    Love,
    Little Big Sister
